Thursday 26th March P2 9CX1 Mr Thomas

It's Decision Time

Your job today is to look at the problems you have identified and decide which one you are going to make an app for.  How you reach your decision is up to you but it must be something that every member of your time can be passionate about.

REMEMBER IT MUST BE UNIQUE

Task

  • Each team to post to the blog a paragraph describing your app as follows:
  • Team name
  • Problem that the app is going to solve
  • Why you selected this problem
  • What your app is going to do

Outline THE RESEARCH YOU HAVE DONE TO JUSTIFY YOUR DECISION MAKING

ADD SKETCHES OF THE HOME PAGE AND TWO OR THREE OTHER PAGES

You need to divide this work up between members of the team.

Thursday, 5 March 2015

12th March P2 9XC1 Mr Thomas

In today’s lesson and for homework you are going to complete the Brain Dump task where you identify problems which may lend themselves to being solved by developing an app.

Learning Outcomes

You will learn:
  • To identify problems in your day-to-day life
  • To decompose problems into sub-sections
  • Research possible ways of solving such problems

Brain Dump Task

Each member of the team should come up with at least two or more different ideas for problems that possibly can be solved by making a  phone app.    Each team member should in their ‘Apps for Good’ doc write a section which includes the following:

  1. What is the problem e.g. “unhealthy hair”
  2. Description of the problem e.g. “People have different types of hair.  For example, some people have greasy hair others dry hair.  Some have split ends others fairly healthy hair. Treating hair with correct shampoo, conditioner, brushing and cutting can be very difficult”.
  3. What could an app do to help?
for example:
    1. Suggest different shampoos
    2. Suggest different conditioners
    3. Suggest brushing/combing frequencies
    4. Suggest cutting frequency
    5. Other treatments
    4. Potential problems?
for example:
  1. Collecting the data could be difficult.
  2. Could suggest links with more severe medical problems.

Research

Show the URL of where you have done research and say what you have found.

Your Job

  1. Discuss ideas with members of your team.
  2. Try exploring your day from getting up to going to bed and list all the problems you may encounter.  The size or seriousness of the problem  does not matter.
  3. Complete the ‘Brain Dump’ task in your CT Workbook as described above.  This needs to be completed by next lesson.
  4. Respond to this post with the URL of your CT Workbook.
Example comment:
